Hello to all fellow hams. If you are not a ham this page may bore you but if you are interested please by all means read on. Also, as of my last this posting I am learning about some digital modes on HF. To my fellow hams these are some of my interests and bands I operate:
Bands: 80 meters, 40 meters, 20 meters, 15 meters, 10 meters, 6 meters(Portable only), 2 meters, 430/440 MHz / 70cm
Activities: Field day, Hamfests, Mobile operations, Portable operation, Programming (computers), QRP, Rag chewing, Shortwave listening
Operating: AM, CW, FM, Packet, PACTOR, RTTY, SSB, SSTV, PSK31 and Allstar
Equipment: Antique/collector radios, Batteries, Boatanchors, Computers, Keyboard CW, Keyers, Power supplies, Scanners, Station accessories, Straight Keys, Test equipment, TNC's, Transceivers, Vacuum tubes
Antennas/Propagation: Antenna tuners, Mobile antennas, Multi-band antennas, Vertical antennas, Wire antennas
Organizations you are interested in: 10-10 & SKCC
For those that are not hams it is a hobby where you can communicate all different ways using radio waves. Like I was told it is used mostly during bad time or when main communication methods no longer work but until that day and or moment happens we get to have fun using all kinds of ways to communicate to one another. We test antenna ideas, different radios, methods on powering our gear(ex gas generators, commercial power, batteries and even solar power.) We use different modes. Everthing from the basics to sending a signal to the moon and it's singnal be bounced back to another part on the earth. Amateur radio or ham radio has kept me busy.
